In this model you and SoftSol agree to a fixed price and timelines for a project at the beginning of a project. This is a popular engagement model which clients feel comfortable dealing with as it gives them a budget and timeline that is fixed. SoftSol has perfected this model and is adept at delivering at high quality software in time and within budget.

This mode of engagement is ideally suited for developing known and well understood solutions with relatively low to medium levels of complexity. This model is well suited for projects that have clear specification documents and sufficient amount of detail so that all risks are identified and all assumptions are explicit.

These projects typically leave little scope for changes and additions during the project execution. As a customer dealing with this model, you would be a knowledgeable person in the business domain and will have an understanding of the software development process. This model's success hinges on the active cooperation of the client. It assumes that the client will provide timely and relevant feedback & decisions.


The client will provide a detailed specification document to SoftSol and along with client; we will review the specifications and ensure that all assumptions, details are made explicit. SoftSol will prepare an effort analysis and propose a fixed price and fixed time frame for the project execution. We also will highlight the scope of change and possible risks during the execution phase.

The client and SoftSol will enter in to an agreement that covers visual aspects, documentation, application design, testing, support period, change management, communication protocols, milestones, timelines and commercial details. The project is executed as per the agreement.

SoftSol can help the client in evolving the specifications for the particular project at a fee. Our business analyst discusses the project in detail and prepares a low level specification document laying bare the various elements of the project.

Time & Material

As the name suggests the customer will be charged based on the resources utilized and the time spent for the project. This model is best for those large scale and complex projects which are longer in duration and where project specification evolves as the implementation progress. The effort is charged on a pre-agreed hourly rate based on the quality of resource engaged. SoftSol and Client agree on a change management practice and provide room for the same.

Our effective project management ensures that effort is estimated and implemented in an effective and controlled fashion to reduce time and cost overruns.

SoftSol has considerable exposure and experience in implementing time and material projects. The client benefits from the strong business analysis, research and project management experience of SoftSol in achieving the desired business solution. Dedicated Offshore Resources

Dedicated offshore resources needed by the client will be identified and assigned for the use of the client as per agreed terms.

This is suitable for software consulting and development companies or IT departments of large business houses who like to have an offshore development team or need resources on a short-term or long term basis. The biggest advantage with this model is that an extended team of skilled resources are available along with the needed infrastructure without the overhead of in-house resources and management.

The client approaches SoftSol with specific requirements for resources. SoftSol identifies and screen the resources and the details of the same are provided to the client for further screening. The client in turn evaluates these details and interviews the resources. The selected resources are engaged by the client. A fixed price or a time and material model can be adopted to engage the resources. The resources allocated to the client will work on the assignments of the client organization and will report to the assigned authority. A mutually conducive communication protocol is agreed upon for reporting to the client. SoftSol will play an active role in providing the needed infrastructure and support for successful completion of any given venture or need.

Onsite Consulting

Dedicated onsite resources needed by the client will be identified and assigned for the use of the client as per agreed terms. The resources will be placed at the location specified by the client. This is suitable for software consulting and development companies or IT departments of large business houses who like to have experienced and skilled resources to be available at their location on a short term basis. This model can be used if there is a strong need for expediting a project or needs specialized skill sets to complement an in-house team.

The client approaches SoftSol with specific requirements for resources. SoftSol identifies and screens resources and provides the details to the client for further screening. The client evaluates the resources and engages the selected resources. The pricing model is dictated by the time period of the engagement along with the country of operation. SoftSol consulting will handle the legal aspects of this engagement model with needed assistance from the client. SoftSol will take responsibility of supplementing resources in case of exigencies and emergencies of the recruited resources.

Hybrid Delivery Model

This model, a combination of both onsite and offshore, is the best of both worlds, and results in optimized costs and maximized efficiency. The onsite team will directly interact with the clients and will serve as consultants, program managers and developers, depending on project requirements. They will do requirement studies, design and development, while interfacing directly with clients. The offshore outsourcing team will interact only with the onsite team and will provide additional crucial support, thereby reducing costs and implementation time. Dedicated Development Facility or Retainer

A Dedicated facility is an extension of the customer's own engineering/development center. All rights to the IPR developed in the Development Facility vests with the customer. The Dedicated Facility also provides a cost effective solution to customers requiring continuous offshore support. For such dedicated relationships, we also implement customer specific quality/process frameworks and teams are trained for the specific needs of a Client. The resources are paid on a retainer basis.

Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Model

In the Build-Operate-Transfer Model, SoftSol launches a dedicated facility for the client. This facility is like an extension of the client's own facility. The dedicated facility leverages SoftSol 's technical infrastructure, processes and execution capabilities. The dedicated facility is staffed either by existing SoftSol 's resources or by Client's resources or by resources hired specifically for engagement or a mix of them all. SoftSol has a well-defined mechanism for the smooth transition of the facility to the client.


SoftSol will solicit information regarding the size, complexity, technology and infrastructure needs of the operation. This information is evaluated and analyzed to decide the composition of the team and assets. We will also identify the physical assets needed in setting up the facility. Our consulting will source the needed skilled personnel required to initiate the operations. SoftSol and the upcoming offshore facility will work in tight coordination to setup processes, methodologies and quality standards to enable a quick transition and faster turnaround times.
